Extreme Hangover: ECW Extreme Replay—Miz Defeats Kane, and More

Ron JohnsonMay 20, 2008

Tonight's ECW saw the Land of Extreme adding its name to its very own pay-per-view. General Manager Armando Estrada opened the show with the announcement that four former ECW Champions will battle it out in a Singapore Cane Match and the winner will earn the right to face the ECW Champion at Night of Champions.

In the interest of fairness, he decides to have the four men involved face off in a tag team match later that night. So it would be Chavo Guerrero and John Morrison facing CM Punk and Tommy Dreamer in the main event.

The Miz defeats Kane via Disqualification

The combat begins with The Miz taking on ECW Champion Kane. The champion begins by opening up a can of whoop ass on one half of the Tag Champs, but the Chick Magnet fights back. (By the way, what lady really thinks that the Miz is a chick magnet?)

A boot opens things up for the Miz, but a clothesline sends him to the outside. On the outside, The Miz uses a push into the steel post to gain the momentum, but the Big Red Machine gains the advantage with a flying clothesline. As he attempts the clothesline, Miz fights out of it, only to get caught and placed in the Tree of Woe. But Kane refuses to relinquish the hold and gets disqualified.

He then grabs a chair from the outside, chokeslams The Miz for good measure and sets the chair up around his throat. Before the damage could be done, John Morrision comes out to save his partner, and looks back to see Kane laughing maniacally.

Shelton Benjamin defeats Kofi Kingston

The match opens with Shelton Benjamin displaying a little more aggression than usual, but Kofi Kingston fights back with an unorthodox arm drag. A quick miscue has Kofi tossed into the turnbuckle and Shelton takes full advantage of Kingston's injured knee.

Another unorthodox arm drag and dropkick gives Kofi time to recover, but not enough to take advantage as Shelton locks on the Single Leg Boston Crab. Though Kofi reaches the ropes, his troubles would continue. After missing the Trouble In Paradise, Shelton delivers the Paydirt to earn the win and snap Kofi's undefeated streak.

Colin Delaney and Kelly Kelly defeat Mike Knox and Layla

The show returns from commercial with mixed tag team action. The Divas open up competition and Kelly Kelly has control throughout their battle. As she goes for the cover, Knox comes in to break up the count. And as Delaney comes in to help Kelly, he's tossed out on his ass to the outside.

As Knox goes to finish off Delaney, though, Kelly Kelly hits the K2 on Layla for the pinfall before he can interfere again. In response to the loss, Knox hits the Knox Landing on Delaney leaving him flat on his back in the middle of the ring. But that was just the start of a bad night for poor Colin.

Armando Estrada defeats Colin Delaney

As Delaney lays motionless in the ring, GM Estrada comes down to declare this next match a legal match. As the referee rings the bell, he picks up Colin and drops him with the Stogie Slam to pick up another controversial win over the newest member of the ECW Roster.

If he wanted to make Colin's life a living hell, he's off to a good start.

Battle of Former ECW Champions: Chavo Guerrero & John Morrison defeat CM Punk and Tommy Dreamer

Dreamer and Morrison open up the main event as Tommy drops Morrison with a face plant and arm drag. As Chavo gets a blind tag, he bumps into his partner allowing Dreamer to tag in Punk. Chavo is thrown outside, and the fight gets even worse from there for the unprepared tag team. As Punk flies over the top, Morrison moves out of the way, leaving his partner to take the blunt of the fall.

But he did manage to make up for it by delivering a devastating Electric Chair Drop to Punk on the outside. Returning from break, Morrison is in full control with a backbreaker/Russian Leg Sweep combination. He tags in Chavo who continues to dispatch of the punishment with a submission. Punk manages to break out, but is unable to tag Tommy.

As Morrison and Chavo tag in and out, Punk uses a quick pause to the high knee-dog to gain an advantage and tag in Dreamer. Dreamer cleans house on both superstars, but gets caught by Morrison. As Morrison goes for The Famer, Dreamer counters into a DDT, but only gets a two count. Morrison reverses a Tree of Woe Dropkick, Chavo blind tags him, and nails the Frog Splash for the win.

But the show isn't over yet. As Chavo prepares to celebrate the victory, the Big Show comes to interrupt the party. After chokeslamming both Chavo and Punk, and nailing with Morrison with the Showstopper, Show decides that since Estrada didn't put him in the Singapore Cane Match at One Night Stand, he'll add himself.

And just to prove his value, he chokeslams Tommy Dreamer as he gets back to his feet. The Show stands tall as ECW goes off the air.
