Bennett has a tremendously strong arm, which allowed him to operate a pro-style, vertical passing scheme at Southeastern Louisiana.
Immediately jumping out as a concern is his 49.5 percent completion rate from 2014, per The Washington Post. Since that came against lower competition, one would presume on the surface that Bennett wouldn't be able to cut it in the pros.
But Bennett still managed to average 8.2 yards per attempt in the aggressive aerial assault his team relentlessly peppered the opposition with. Lions head coach Ron Roberts told Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon that accuracy should not be perceived as an issue: "He could have thrown hitch routes all day and probably complete 70 percent of his passes. He may have hit only 49 percent, but he was hitting them for big."
In addition to possessing a lot of natural throwing ability, Bennett is an exceptional athlete. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he posted a 125-inch broad jump and a 37-inch vertical leap to go with a 4.81-second 40-yard dash.
The latter time wasn't as impressive, but Bennett has better game speed, is quicker than he is fast and can keep his eyes downfield to deliver the ball on target.
Bennett is flying under the radar for the most part. Nevertheless, there are certain attributes in Bennett's skill set—not to mention a background in an NFL-style system—to suggest he could be a diamond in the rough.
