There is still around 15 per cent of the Premier League season remaining—most teams have four or five games left—but it is that time of the year when the Professional Footballers Association gather to look back on the incomplete campaign and tactically vote their contemporaries to glory...
The English top flight's finest gathered at London's Grosvenor House on Sunday evening for the PFA Awards, with many suspecting that Eden Hazard would pick up the prized Player of the Year Award. To absolutely no one's surprise, the resplendent Belgium did win, on what was his third successive nomination for the main gong...

A video celebrating Hazard's skill set started circulating on Twitter, but it should be approached with caution by sensitive Blues fans...
Despite the overwhelming level of support behind the Chelsea attacker, there were plenty who claimed he did not deserve the award...
"Eden hazard didn't deserve that pfa award at all tbh
— Bobby Mercer (@Haroon_soler) April 26, 2015"
"Today's game showed why @hazardeden10 didn't deserve the nomination! He was outclassed by @Alexis_Sanchez
— Fakie (@Fakie49) April 26, 2015"
But there were many retorts for the non-believers...
The folks at Have I Got News For You, meanwhile, waded in with some top-class banter...
Harry Kane won the PFA Young Player of the Year award, with last year's winner Hazard finishing second. For many, this seemed utterly illogical...
"How does Hazard not win young player of the year as well? Bit stupid really how he wins POTY, but not YPOTY too.
— Finn (@FutbolFinn) April 26, 2015"
"Hazard is a better player than Kane but Kane is a better young player than Hazard WTF PFA LOGIC
— Stamford Memes (@StamfordMemes) April 26, 2015"
One of the biggest perceived injustice of the awards, however, was Alexis Sanchez's failure to make the top three shortlist. Arsenal fans were queuing up to register their disgust...
"Alexis Sanchez has single handedly got Arsenal 2nd in the league, FA cup final yet De Gea gets 3rd in PFA player of the year?!! Ridiculous.
— 0ne Eye ;-) (@ScornMind) April 27, 2015"
Inevitably, the non-Arsenal fans rolled out the fourth-place gags...
"Sanchez was 4th in the PFA list, its fitting since he plays for arsenal, he probably sees it as a trophy
— Quill (@quillinho) April 26, 2015"
Aside from the main awards, there was also much talk about the PFA Team of the Year, which included six Chelsea stars and a Blues loanee in Ryan Bertrand. The biggest gripe about the selection seemed to be that there weren't enough Chelsea players, with Cesc Fabregas falling short of the mark...
"No Fabregas in the PFA Team of the Year is a joke. Top assister, played a massive part in our season.
— TweetChelseaFC (@TweetChelseaFC) April 26, 2015"
"PFA team of the year is voted by players so it basically shows Cesc Fabregas has no mates.
— Soccer St. (@SoccerSt_) April 26, 2015"
"Aguero - most goals this season Fabregas - most assists this season Neither make the PFA Team of the Year... pic.twitter.com/1v7jTZd4fC
— BreatheSport (@BreatheSport) April 26, 2015"
The evening also saw former Chelsea star Frank Lampard and nearly Chelsea star Steven Gerrard receive some car boot sale-quality gongs that probably won't be making the trip across to the USA when they commence their respective MLS careers...
Ultimately, the PFA Awards rarely pass without opinion being divided, but we can all agree that the action was appropriately lampooned by the folks at 4-4-2oons...
