Kansas City Royals left fielder Alex Gordon submitted an early Catch of the Year candidate during Sunday's 5-3 loss against the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field when he sacrificed his body in order to record an out.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Gordon—a four-time Gold Glove Award winner—made a ridiculous catch as he jumped into the stands on a ball hit by Chicago's Micah Johnson. The Royals outfielder took out a White Sox fan while making the grab, but everyone appeared to be all right.
The play even impressed White Sox fans enough to earn the visiting player a standing ovation.
