Alexis Davis: 5 Potential Fights for Her After UFC 186 Win
Alexis Davis was finally able to get a win over Sarah Kaufman at UFC 186. This was their third time facing off against each other, and Davis pulled off a great armbar submission for the win.
Kaufman and Davis are two highly ranked women who have both recently suffered defeats at the hands of current bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. With that in mind, these individuals should be considered for Ally-Gator's next opponent.
Cat Zingano
1 of 5
Cat Zingano was unable to show the world what she is capable of doing at UFC 184 when Rousey stopped her in 14 seconds. She needs to find a way to rebuild herself within the bantamweight division if she’s going to receive a second shot at the title.
Alexis Davis is in a similar situation, so placing them against each other would help determine which woman should move closer without taking out any of the new contenders beneath them.
Marion Reneau
2 of 5
Marion Reneau has crept into consideration within the bantamweight division. She’s dominated in her two victories within the Octagon and is ranked in the No. 12 slot within the weight class.
She would be an interesting competitor against Davis. If Reneau were to win, she would find herself on the short list of potential contenders, while a defeat would keep her in the lower half of the divisional rankings.
Amanda Nunes
3 of 5
Currently ranked No. 8 within the women’s bantamweight division, Nunes has put together a 3-1 record in her tenure under Zuffa. She recently stopped Shayna Bazler with leg kicks to bounce back from a recent defeat. Nunes and Davis also squared off against each other in 2011 in Strikeforce, where Davis stopped Nunes with strikes in the second round.
Holly Holm
4 of 5
At 8-0, Holly Holm has finally joined the UFC ranks. Her win over Raquel Pennington did not lead many fans to clamor for her to face Rousey, and that was perhaps the best outcome. Now the organization can slowly build her into a true competitor.
Having her face off against Alexis Davis will show whether or not she is ready to fight the toughest competitors in the division. A win for either woman here would help keep her relevant within the group.
Julianna Pena
5 of 5
Julianna Pena spent an extensive amount of time out of the cage due to a horrific injury that nearly ended her career. She looked spectacular in her return a few weeks ago when she beat down Milana Dudieva. The Ultimate Fighter 18 winner is ranked No. 11 by the UFC, and a fight against Alexis Davis would help push her up that ladder. It would be interesting to see if Pena can push Davis around as she has done to other opponents in her past.
