Kurt Busch dominated the field at Richmond International Raceway on Sunday, leading 291 of 400 laps to capture his first checkered flag of the season at the Toyota Owners 400.
Busch has been in the top 15 of each race since returning from an indefinite suspension stemming from an incident of alleged domestic violence in Delaware. He had a chance to win last week at Bristol before a late-race pit stop cost him valuable track position.
Busch’s teammate Kevin Harvick finished second, giving Stewart-Haas Racing a one-two finish on the wild three-quarter mile track.
Jimmie Johnson, Jamie McMurray and Joey Logano, who led 94 laps, rounded out the top five.
Jeff Gordon finished eighth for his sixth straight top-10 finish.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished a disappointing 14th after running near the top-10 for a good chunk of the day.
Chase Elliott, the 19-year-old phenom and defending XFinity Series champion, came in a solid 16th in his second Sprint Cup start.
