IPL 2015 Results: Latest Scores, Points Table and Updated Cricket Schedule
Royal Challengers Bangalore shocked the Indian Premier League leaders Rajasthan Royals on Friday, cruising to a comfortable nine-wicket win to inject some fresh excitement into the IPL play-off race.
A fantastic performance with the ball saw Bangalore limit Rajasthan to just 130 runs, before the trio of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers gave the team the perfect start to their innings.
Three batsmen were all Bangalore would need to chase down the target and bag their second win of the competition.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Cruise Past Rajasthan Royals
3 of 3
Royal Challengers Bangalore (134/1) beat Rajasthan Royals (130/9) by nine wickets.
Royal Challengers Bangalore needed just three batsmen to chase down a target of 130 and shock IPL leaders Rajasthan Royals on Friday, adding another twist to what has already been a fantastic season.
Rajasthan entered the match with just the single loss on their resume and were the strong favourites against Bangalore, who have struggled during the early part of the 2015 IPL season.
Those struggles were hardly visible during the Royals' innings, however. The likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Shane Watson found little success against Royal Challengers' bowling, which did a fantastic job controlling the pace of the match.

Steven Smith was able to add 31 runs to Rajasthan's tally and provide a bit of a spark, but the middle of the order fell completely flat. Sanju Samson, in particular, continued his struggles with just four runs before he was bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal, prompting ESPN Cricinfo's Freddie Wilde to send out this tweet:
"Early on this season I was impressed by Sanju Samson's keeping; but since then he's struggled with both bat & gloves. #IPL #RRvRCB #RR #RCB
— Freddie Wilde (@fwildecricket) April 24, 2015"
Chahal would end the innings with two wickets, while team-mate Mitchell Starc did even better, taking three and surrendering just 22 runs. The Australian has recaptured the form that saw him play a pivotal part in the Men in Greens' win at the Twenty20 World Cup, something Bangalore will be more than happy about.
A slow 20 of Stuart Binny saw Rajasthan's total grow to just 130 by the end of the innings, and Wilde was impressed with the Royal Challengers' performance:
"That's a good performance from #RCB who have preyed on #RR who misjudged & over-evaluated a good score on that pitch. #IPL #RRvRCB
— Freddie Wilde (@fwildecricket) April 24, 2015"
Chris Gayle returned to the team for Bangalore and started the innings with Virat Kohli to give the team a strong opening duo. The West Indies' star managed 20 runs before he was caught, but AB de Villiers stepped right into his spot and carried on the production.
Wilde loved Bangalore's tactic of using the trio in the first three slots of the order:
"I really hope #RCB persist with Gayle, Kohl & ABdV at 1, 2 & 3 & this isn’t a one-off. If anything they need the stability. #IPL #RRvRCB #RR

Rajasthan's bowlers simply couldn't figure out how to slow down Kohli (62 from 46) and De Villiers (47 from 34), who knew they didn't have to take any real risks to show down a measly target of 130. The South African eventually ended the match with an emphatic four, putting a nice exclamation mark on Bangalore's performance.
Watson thought Rajasthan's performance was well below par and blamed the slow wicket for their disastrous innings, per ESPN Cricinfo:
"We didn't score enough, unfortunately. RCB outplayed us today and summed up the conditions very well today. Getting 150-160 would have been a decent total probably, this wicket is pretty slow. There's no excuse, every game is important and losing the Super Over match also had no excuse. Next time we'll try to perform better when the opportunity arises. We just need momentum going our way.
"
Royals still lead the IPL standings but will have some questions going into their next match. Bangalore's bowling has been shelled by several teams in the past few weeks, and to only manage a score of 130 against Starc and Co. indicates the team might have a problem playing some of the slower wickets.
Bangalore have the quality to be in the running for a play-off spot and showed it on Friday. Gayle, Kohli and De Villiers rank among the most explosive batsmen in the sport, and if they can keep up this momentum, they'll present a difficult challenge to every single team they play.
