Nasri Out vs. Aston Villa with Muscle Injury
Friday, April 24
Saturday's match against Aston Villa is a huge one for the Sky Blues, as they currently sit fourth in the EPL standings. If they are going to ascend, however, they will have to do so without Nasri.
According to David McDonnell of the Daily Mirror, the 27-year-old Frenchman has been ruled out due to injury:
"Kompany, Clichy, Nasri and Jovetic all out for Man City v Villa on Saturday, Pellegrini confirms. Story coming up on @MirrorFootball #MCFC
— David McDonnell (@DiscoMirror) April 24, 2015"
Per Manchester City's official Twitter account, manager Manuel Pellegrini categorizes the ailment as a muscle-related injury:
The exact nature and severity of the injury are unknown at this point, but Pellegrini's comments suggest it may not be a long-term issue.
With the EPL season quickly approaching its conclusion, though, missing even one match is significant.
The odds of catching Chelsea for first place are slim at this point, but being without Nasri could prevent the Citizens from beating out Arsenal and Manchester United for second- and third-place positioning as well.
