Chris Paul Throws an All-Time Hissy Fit During Loss to Spurs

Dan CarsonApr 23, 2015

Have you heard about Chris Paul’s intensity? How about his almond-colored eyes that see all and radiate like sun crystals as he parses the court with unforgiving ferocity?

How about his tantrums? You may have heard about those, because as serious as Paul can be about the game of basketball, his most untethered rages tend to work their way out of his body in hilarious, childlike fashion.

Paul’s latest outburst came during the last gasps of the Los Angeles Clippers’ 111-107 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference playoffs on Wednesday night. The point guard momentarily lost every shred of his composure after a defensive breakdown left Patty Mills unguarded for a wide-open layup.

The Cauldron posted a Vine of Paul’s reaction. I don’t know if the audio is altered here or if Paul really did scream like a mythical winged harpy after the play.

There’s nothing wrong with a guy like Paul getting rip-spit over a loss. This is his job, his livelihood. It’s just amusing how Paul’s competitive edge tends to manifest itself in a way that most closely resembles a kid watching his mother place his Pokemon booster pack back on the top shelf.

As for where this ranks among Paul’s past performances, I have to put it second on the all-time list. Nothing may ever unseat his unheard flying DeAndre Jordan screams.

Never change, Chris.

Dan is on Twitter. He’s spent his fair share of time crying on the floor of a Target.
