Overview

Delhi Daredevils have had a mixed bag of results in the 2015 Indian Premier League. They've won two and lost three of the games, in which they have played some thrilling cricket and have come agonisingly close on a few occasions, but for the most part, they have lacked consistency.

Still, under captain JP Duminy's guidance, Delhi have shown enough promise for their fans to believe that they are capable of achieving something great. Mumbai, meanwhile, have had a torrid time, having won just one out of five.

Both teams are desperate for momentum as the IPL starts to gather pace. Both teams have recovered from slumps. Daredevils broke their duck after 11 consecutive losses, while Mumbai finally managed their first win after losing the first four.

Neither team are short on talent. Mumbai's batsmen have actually been fairly impressive considering the poor results. Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard and Corey Anderson have all scored two half-centuries, while three others have contributed one each. That's a far better record than Delhi, who have had just four half-centuries from all their batsmen in this tournament.

From a bowling perspective, though, Mumbai have struggled. Save for Harbhajan Singh, their bowlers haven't really managed to look all that threatening, and even Lasith Malinga seems to have lost some of that spark. The opposite is true for Delhi in this case, with JP Duminy, Imran Tahir and Nathan Coulter-Nile all doing the business with the ball.

It seems that Thursday will be all about opposites, then, and how they attract and bounce off each other when these two sides meet.

Key players

Mumbai Indians

Rohit Sharma has been in really good touch, and Mumbai will look to their top run-getter to continue his good form and take the Delhi bowling lineup to task.

Delhi Daredevils

JP Duminy is one of the most experienced players in the Delhi squad, and as the captain, it's up to him to lead from the front. He has been immense with the ball in hand and has shown glimpses of brilliance with the bat. It's now just about getting that brilliance to shine through.
