New captain Azhar Ali led the way for Pakistan with a century, but a dramatic collapse saw his side lose their final eight wickets for 47 runs in 10.2 overs.

Azhar, who replaced Misbah-ul-Haq after Pakistan’s elimination in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, made 101 from 112 balls—his first ODI ton.

He put on 91 for the opening wicket with teenage debutant Sami Aslam, who made 45 from 50 balls.

After a third failure in a row from Mohammad Hafeez, Azhar shared a 98-run partnership with Haris Sohail before Shakib Al Hasan pegged back his off-stump with an arm ball in the 39th over.

Haris (45) departed four balls later, and then Pakistan buckled with only Saad Nasim (22) reaching double figures as they were all out in 49 overs.

In the Tigers' reply, Soumya and Tamim Iqbal put on 145 for the opening wicket to create a superb foundation.

Tamim missed out on a third consecutive century in the series as he departed lbw to Junaid Khan in the 26th over after making 64.

Mahmudullah (4) fell in identical fashion in Junaid’s next over, but 22-year-old Soumya pushed on and reached his century from 94 balls.

He finished on 127 not out, with 13 boundaries and six maximums, while Mushfiqur Rahim was unbeaten on 49 after hitting the winning boundary off Junaid Khan with a massive 63 balls to spare.

The teams next play a one-off Twenty20 International on Friday.
