Concepts X Asics Gel-Lyte III '25th Anniversary' Release Date, Price and Pics
Fans of the highly stylized and fashionable running shoe will be able to take part in an event when Concepts and Asics release the 25th anniversary of the Gel-Lyte III sneaker on April 25.
The Gel-Lyte III, which is a joint release from Concepts and Asics, will be sold at retail price for $160 beginning Saturday.
As you would expect from a running shoe, these Gel-Lyte III sneakers have plenty of breathing room and are designed for comfort on your feet.
For the look and design, Complex Sneakers tweeted out an oblique-angle close-up picture:
Here's a detailed description of the shoes by Riley Jones of Complex:
"... we now know (the Gel-Lyte III shoes) feature a mesh navy tongue and red mesh lining.Elsewhere, the heel's red suede is looking extra fuzzy, which is especially noticeable in contrast with the suede used on the off-white toe. There's also embossed "Concepts" branding on the heel, while the insole's branding is kept to a minimum.
"
In addition to the natural breathing mesh, Asics and Concepts went all out to make sure this doesn't feel like just another running shoe with the addition of suede and leather on the top.
OOTLYFE provided a more expansive look at the sneakers, which really shows how the white and blue pop off of each other:
Today's shoes are no longer meant to be used for one purpose. Having a shoe specifically for running is nice, but simply wearing them out in public while shopping or hanging out with friends is just as good.
These Gel-Lyte III shoes have the snap and style to be a terrific casual part of the ensemble if that's how you choose to wear them.
The best look at these new Concepts-Asics running shoe was provided by CrispCulture.com:

This image shows us the full red, white and blue effect for the Gel-Lyte III with the Asics logo really popping on the sides. It's a very bold and confident look for the shoe.
Given the way shoes and collecting them have taken off in recent years, there has to be some defining trait that separates one from the other. It doesn't matter whether it's the look, feel or just updating a past look.
Concepts and Asics have built a shoe that feels very much in line with the style of 2015, while honoring the past version that came out in 1990.
