Drogba Fine to Play vs. Arsenal

Friday, April 25

Miguel Delaney of ESPN reported that manager Jose Mourinho said Drogba is "fine" to play against Arsenal on Sunday.

On April 20, Drogba tweeted that he wouldn't be able to take part in Monday's "Match Against Poverty" due to his ankle problem:

Despite being third-choice striker for the Blues, Drogba has started Chelsea's last two wins over Queens Park Rangers and Manchester United.

Diego Costa's consistent hamstring injuries and Loic Remy's calf troubles, as reported by Aaron Flanagan of the Mirror, could leave the west London side short ahead of upcoming matches against Arsenal and Leicester. Mourinho knows if Chelsea win both, they will be this year's Premier League champions.

Mourinho previously said Costa is expected "to play the last four matches," starting with the home match against Crystal Palace on May 3, per Flanagan. He returned to training prior to the win over United, however.

It's unclear how long Drogba will be sidelined for, but his absence could see youngster Dominic Solanke—who has sat on the bench in recent weeks—receive his senior debut.
