Eagles Put Barkley on Trade Block
Sunday, April 19
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported Sunday that the Eagles were planning to sign Tebow in the coming days.
ESPN's Adam Schefter followed up on Facebook, reporting that Philly has tried and failed to trade Barkley this spring. Being unable to unload Barkley, Philadelphia pursued Tebow anyway:
Kevin Seifert of ESPN was a bit surprised the Eagles couldn't find a suitor for Barkley given the dearth of talented quarterbacks available this offseason:
Something will certainly have to give in Philadelphia. It seems highly unlikely that the Eagles would carry four quarterbacks—Barkley, Tebow, Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez—in 2015.
NJ Advance Media's Eliot Shorr-Parks immediately thought Barkley would be the odd man out, adding that the former USC Trojan deserves a starting opportunity somewhere else:
Few, if any, teams have created as much buzz as the Eagles. They traded running back LeSean McCoy for linebacker Kiko Alonso, dealt quarterback Nick Foles and picks to the St. Louis Rams for Bradford and allowed wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Should Philadelphia add Tebow, head coach Chip Kelly's offseason business is unlikely to be complete as he alleviates his QB gridlock.
