Zlatan Ibrahimovic Ban Reduced to 3 Matches

Tim DanielsApr 17, 2015

French football governing body LFP has reportedly reduced the ban levied against Paris Saint-Germain superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic from four matches to three. He was suspended after an outburst about the country and the refereeing he's witnessed while with the club.

Jonathan Johnson of ESPN FC passed along the LFP's change on Friday following an initial report from Le Parisien:

The Guardian reported PSG had appealed the punishment after Ibrahimovic was caught on camera saying, "I've been playing for 15 years and I've never seen [good] refereeing in this shit country. They don't even deserve PSG in this country."

He later tried to downplay the situation, according to the report: "I like it in France. I would not have played there for so long and I would not have renewed my contract if I did not like it."

Ultimately, it seemed like an incident in which Ibrahimovic let his emotions get the better of him. Now, he'll pay for the mistake with a three-match ban. If it begins immediately, he'll miss Saturday's clash with Nice as the start of his time on the sideline.

Chopping one game off of the suspension probably isn't as much as PSG was hoping for, but it's better than no change.
