Jones Set for West Brom Clash
Friday, May 1
Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News reported that Jones has every chance of playing when United take on West Brom on Saturday.
The news will hopefully end a spell on the sidelines dating back to April 17, when Van Gaal confirmed Jones' initial injury, per the club's Twitter feed:
The England international was replaced by Rojo with 15 minutes remaining in the City game—which United won 4-2. Van Gaal indicated that Jones has been unable to recover in time for the trip to Stamford Bridge, per the Manchester Evening News' Samuel Luckhurst:
"They are all from the game against City. Blind played on because he always wants to, but the tackle from Kompany was the reason. Jones injured himself in the second half. Rojo, he was complaining [of a knock] after the match, and Carrick was also off. We had a big hope that Blind and Jones could reach this game but they can't.
"
Jones was a big loss for United as he has been immense of late, particularly against City, against whom he formed a fine central partnership in defence alongside Chris Smalling.
It is, as yet, unclear as to when he will be able to return to action.
