Overview
The Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils have the exact same record in the IPL to date and Saturday’s match will present an opportunity for both teams to inject some momentum into their seasons. It will be the second time Hyderabad play in Visakhapatnam this season, having lost their first match there against Rajasthan Royals on Thursday.
It was a low-scoring encounter, with Hyderabad only notching up a paltry 127-5 in their 20 overs and Rajasthan chasing the score down with relative ease. The pitch wasn’t overly batsman-friendly and it might prompt whoever wins the toss to opt to bowl first.
Delhi have also never beaten Hyderabad since they became known as the Sunrisers, but that should not matter too much at this stage. Both teams have struggled for consistency, and Delhi recently escaped the unfortunate fate of becoming the first team to ever lose 12 IPL matches on the trot.
Both teams need a special performance to kick-start their seasons and when two “weaker” teams meet, the action will always be explosive, so this could be a really interesting match.
Key players
Hyderabad
David Warner has been the most consistent batsman for Sunrisers by far. He has two fifties in three games and averages 43.66 with a high score of 57. Hyderabad will need Warner to anchor the innings if they are to have any hope of winning.
Delhi
JP Duminy has played a useful all-round role as the captain. He has a bowling average of 10.33 in the three matches he has played and has chipped in with some useful scores with the bat, too. Although he is yet to score a half-century, he is settling into his role at No. 3. The surface will be a tricky one to adjust to, but if Duminy can just get his eye in, he could be a crucial player for Delhi.
