Bayern Munich Transfer News: Antoine Griezmann Bid Rumours Emerge

Bayern Munich are beginning to intensify their search for potential summer upgrades after a drop in form most recently highlighted by a loss to Porto on Wednesday. Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid is reportedly a top target.

Miguel Perez of SPORT reports Griezmann is a highly coveted commodity around Europe amid a campaign with 18 goals in 30 La Liga appearances. It's noted the German side are preparing a bid but are likely to face heavy resistance:

The German club are preparing a big offer for him, with Claudio Pizarro set to be knocked off the wage bill.

However, Griezmann only signed for Atleti last summer, signing a five-year deal, and the Spanish side will not let him leave easily.

Griezmann enjoyed a steady rise during a five-year stint with Real Sociedad. He scored 31 goals across all competitions over his final two years with the club before making the high-profile move to Atletico last summer.

The 24-year-old French international's stock has continued to rise in his first season with the Colchoneros. The forward, who's also capable of playing in the attacking midfield, has been the club's most consistent attacking presence.

He would obviously face far more competition for playing time at Bayern. The side's attacking group is already highlighted by Thomas Muller, Arjen Robben and Robert Lewandowski, among others.

Being wanted by a club like Bayern is an accomplishment in itself. But whether Griezmann will actually end up making a move this summer after just one season with Atletico is very much a mystery at this point.
