93-Year-Old Reading Fan Says She's Never Liked Arsenal or 'Arsene Whinger'

There are plenty of football fans out there who do not like Arsenal, but few have held a disdain for them as long as Ciss Platten.

The Reading superfan is 93-years-young and would take great pleasure in seeing her beloved Royals beat the Gunners in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday. 

That's because she has a dislike for Arsenal that goes all the way back to the 1920s. 

In an interview with the Guardian she explained why she's never been a fan of the north London club.

"

I didn’t really know about football then (the 1920s) but dad used to stand by the window on a Sunday morning checking his Pools coupon. And he’d say: 'Bloody hell, Arsenal have let me down again.'

He was always grumbling about them. ‘That blasted team’ he called them. I think that’s maybe why I’ve always disliked Arsenal.

"

She's also no fan of current manager Arsene Wenger: "We call him ‘Arsene Whinger,’" she told the newspaper. 

"Funny thing, it was in the paper the other day—‘Whinger’. He’s always whinging, he’s always having a moan."

In the lovely interview, the likable Ciss also talked about how she fell in love with Reading FC and how she hopes to be supporting them into her 100s.
