Fox Sports 1's Alex Marvez broke the news originally on Wednesday night.
Posluszny missed nine games in 2014 due to a torn pectoral muscle.
The 30-year-old veteran made the Pro Bowl in the previous season, though, so Jacksonville bet on him returning to that form this next season and beyond. Posluszny will now be under contract through 2017, per Spotrac.com.
Back in late January, Posluszny told Jaguars.com's John Oehser that he'd be 100 percent and ready to go for the Jags' offseason workout program, and he also weighed in on the team's direction:
"You get a sense that all the right pieces are being put in place. We have the quarterback of the future. We have the left tackle. Our defense is coming together. In the first couple of years (under Bradley and Caldwell), we were slowly building and now let's take that next step and really see some big improvements.
"
It's certainly high time for Jacksonville to prove it can contend for the postseason after a rocky first couple of seasons under a regime led by coach Gus Bradley and general manager David Caldwell.
Bradley was Seattle's defensive coordinator before taking the helm with the Jags, so he has to be pleased that Posluszny is returning to the fold. Jacksonville has also signed cornerback Davon House, linebacker Dan Skuta and defensive tackle Jared Odrick to bolster its defense this offseason.
Much of the Jags' success will boil down to the quarterback position, as is commonplace in the NFL. Second-year signal-caller Blake Bortles will be counted on to take a big step forward.
Posluszny appears to be giving Bortles a ringing endorsement, and the organization is all in on the former UCF star. If Jacksonville is meant to make a move in the AFC South or become a part of the playoff picture, Bortles' performance will be the biggest key.
