Derek Anderson Is a Cleveland Tradition: Kardiac Kid
Derek Anderson gave Clowns fans a reason to cheer their pathetic team in 2007, leading the team to an improbable 10-6 season, 10-5 as Browns QB very often.
What DA got in return for his previous probowl year, wboos from frickle fans, looking for the old Cleveland Brown promptly won a superbowl upon leaving Cleveland and their idiotic fans:

sacked once every 12 pass attempts. I think Quinn will open the season as the starter, but I'm not sure how long he holds onto the starting spot."
Matt Hasselbeck has declared DA the starter.
Don Banks of sportsillustrated.cnn.com declared DA the winner:
"WINNER -- When I spoke with Browns quarterback Derek Anderson during my training camp stop in Cleveland, he made it clear that he understood the reality of the situation he's in this preseason. He doesn't have the luxury of barely beating out 2007 first-round pick Brady Quinn in the team's QB competition, he has to make it obvious that he's the No. 1. Otherwise he's just playing to establish himself as a viable starting alternative somewhere else in the NFL, once his get-out-of-Cleveland ticket has been punched.
Either way, Anderson took an important first step toward reaching one of those goals with his showing against the Lions on Saturday night in Cleveland, leading the Browns to their first offensive touchdown in forever before exiting the game for good with a 20-0 first-half lead. Anderson wasn't flawless, but he looked like a No. 1 quarterback in going 8 of 13 for 130 yards and an interception in Cleveland's 27-10 win. If it's close, the Browns will still find enough reasons to go with Quinn in the regular season, but Anderson just proved that he's not going to make it easy for anyone to bury him."
Will the Browns find enough reasons to play Quinn if it's neck-and-neck?
1. Quinn has a 11million escalator clause if he plays 70% of the snaps. Quinn has not deserved that bonus and another player Joshua Cribbs has played enough to earn his extra bonus. Mangini and the GM have to be holding out on Cribbs, just to satisfy the Drama Quinn.
2. Quinn still has 2 more years on his rookie contract, his time will come.
Even a Quinnbot like Tony Grossi admits that DA has higher value:
"1. Since returning in 1999, the only season the Browns ranked in the top 20 in rushing was 2007, when Jamal Lewis ran for 1,304 yards and they were eighth. That year, it was Derek Anderson's deep passing that often set up the run. That was true in the 27-10 victory over Detroit. Anderson came out throwing. Four of the first plays were passes, and he had completions of 24, 20 and 14 yards. The 74-yard drive ended with Lewis rumbling four yards into the end zone.
2. When the Browns took a 20-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, they threw nine passes compared to eight runs. A key was Anderson hitting on routes between 10 and 25 it shows why some coaches like Anderson -- the strong arm puts special pressure on the defense and helps the running game. Can he do that against a better defense that brings some pressure? That's what the Browns coaches want to see, and the Tennessee game may give some clues."
The Browns were warned to take Adrian Peterson and go back to their traditions and their roots: a powerful rushing attack in the harsh cleveland climates.

The Clowns are warned again that allowing fans to dictate to their team-first ethos is a trainwreck waiting to happen.
Derek Anderson is by no means the finished product, he will throw picks and he will lose some games, but for the immediate future of this sad, sorry franchise, DA is the one !!
Derek is the one facing Big Baby in camp, Derek is the one facing mounting fan pressure, Derek is the one fighting through adversity. That is a team first mentality.
He will face a
Derek deserves all the support he can get from Clowns fans because Derek is Cleveland tradition: The Kardiac Kid.
