Kings XI Punjab vs. Delhi Daredevils
After losing their tournament opener, Kings XI Punjab recovered with distinction to topple Mumbai Indians in their second match of the competition, with a performance much more befitting of a team which fell at the final hurdle last year.
Delhi Daredevils are chasing their first win of the 2015 IPL season following on from two defeats in two matches. But having lost by one run to Chennai Super Kings and on the last ball against Rajasthan Royals, they’ve shown enough quality to suggest they’re going to be competitive in this year’s tournament.
George Bailey, Punjab

After a solid start to their batting effort against Mumbai, Kings XI lost their way a little in the middle overs. But when captain George Bailey strode out to take his place at the crease, he injected some major impetus into the Punjab innings.
He struck 61 from just 32 balls to help haul his team to a total of 177 from their 20 overs, and they were runs that proved vital as Kings XI held off a late flurry from the home side. It’s a role Bailey has long played with distinction for this team and, it was a classy knock, as noted by Freddie Wilde of ESPN Cricinfo:
There are other attributes the Aussie brings to this team, too. Not only is he a fine batsman, but his leadership skills are admirable and his on-field captaincy is aggressive and refined. It’s a front-foot approach that makes this Kings XI team so difficult to beat when they are playing at their very best.

As noted by HoldingWilleyCricket, Bailey has an outstanding record as captain in IPL matches:
".@ImRo45 has won 61% of the matches he has led his team in #IPL. Only George Bailey and @msdhoni has a better percentage. #WowIPLstats

Batting in the middle order, his role is going to be so important once again, especially late on in the innings. This Delhi team has been in with a chance of victory in both of their matches to date but have gotten a little ragged at the death with the ball; it’s this weakness Bailey should be looking to capitalise on.
Yuvraj Singh, Delhi

Of all the world-class talents in this year’s IPL, the man who cost more money than any at the pre-season auction was Yuvraj Singh. After two losses from two, the Delhi outfit will be looking for a big performance from their prized acquisition against their star-studded opponents.
As we can see here courtesy of Sky Sports Cricket, the Indian star cost a substantial amount:
Up to this point in the competition we’ve yet to see the very best of this engrossing cricketer.
Yuvraj has scored a meagre 36 runs in his two efforts with the bat and has yet to take a wicket in the tournament either. But with Delhi seemingly lacking a bit of edge required to get them over the line in games, it’s time for their star man to step up.
After all, he can be so devastating with the bat at his very best, as we can see here:
Delhi need to show some steel late in the innings, and with Yuvraj playing a similar role to Bailey, the onus will be on him to smash some late boundaries for the Daredevils and help build momentum.

In what is a young squad, there will be plenty of players looking to the left-hander to set an example with a critical innings. If he can take the fight to Kings XI’s quality bowling attack, it’ll give everyone in the Delhi camp a major boost as they attempt to kickstart their campaign.
