Barcelona Transfer News: Latest on Felipe Anderson and Paul Pogba Rumours

Nick AkermanApr 14, 2015

Lazio sensation Felipe Anderson is a "target" for Barcelona, according to Ivan San Antonio of Sport.

The Brazilian played alongside Neymar at Santos, meaning "he has been watched many times live by Barca's head of scouting, Pep Boada, and he has been on the club's radar for a while," according to San Antonio.

However, Barca transfer chief Ariedo Braida has dismissed the club's interest, swatting it away as nothing more than rumours, reported by San Antonio: "There is nothing in it. Newspapers say a lot of things and Barca follow 10 players everyday. At the moment, Felipe Anderson is not a player we are following."

Even so, San Antonio makes a point of saying "the truth is that they are" looking at the 21-year-old. He also believes Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are keeping tabs on the player, who has scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 28 appearances this season, recorded by WhoScored.com.

Anderson's form absolutely exploded after he scored Lazio's winner against Parma on Dec. 7. All of his goals and assists have come in the 15 games since stepping foot onto Stadio Ennio Tardini, making him one of the continent's most in-form players.

European football writer Michael Yokhin proved rather excited by the player's assist for the winner against Napoli:

Football writer Jonathan Johnson suggested a Paris Saint-Germain representative may have observed this performance:

Anderson's qualities are highlighted below:

Barcelona are also being linked with a move for Juventus starlet Paul Pogba. Spanish football expert Graham Hunter recently told talkSPORT that the Blaugrana and Chelsea represent the most likely destinations for the French midfielder.

"The leading clubs, we are told from the people that run this player, are Chelsea and Barcelona," Hunter said. "They have made the running, he is interested. (But) Barcelona would have to buy him and loan him back to Juventus for a season, which is a huge risk."

Pogba has the potential to set a new transfer record, as discussed by B/R UK's Ryan Bailey and Johnson amid previous reports PSG are interested:

Barcelona cannot invite new players to the club until their transfer ban ends in January 2016. This could work in the club's favour—Juve may want an extra half-season from Pogba before he leaves—but it's likely to see a handful of deals pass the team by.

Anderson is destined to be snapped up quickly if his form continues, so Barca will have no option other than to watch him head elsewhere if Lazio fancy making a quick buck.

Luis Enrique's squad could use a refresh in midfield—the influence of stars such as Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta is fast diminishing—but a summer splurge remains off-limits.
