Katie Nolan Torches Colleagues over 'How to Land a Husband at the Masters' Piece

Dan CarsonApr 13, 2015

Outkick The Coverage, a sub-blog of FoxSports.com overseen by Fox Sports analyst Clay Travis, published a story last week titled "How to Land a Husband at the Masters."

The piece, a click-bait-y little ditty telling single female Masters patrons, "Let's be honest...you aren't there for the golf," did what it was ostensibly engineered to do: cause a stir and go viral.

The author, Rebecca Johnson, advises single women to leave their skorts at home and avoid men over 40 ("Sure they probably have money, but they also have on wedding rings") as she goes about recounting an afternoon spent peacocking at Augusta National last week.

It's a tone-deaf #HumbleBrag positioned as an advice column—not necessarily harmful, if you don't consider painting all single females at sporting events as attention-starved honeypots in progress "harmful."

The piece is now catching all sorts of flak, and FoxSports.com's very own Katie Nolan is probably dishing the best of it. Nolan spent a portion of Sunday's Garbage Time calling out Travis for green-lighting the piece.

"I always find myself wondering, 'Gee, how can I enjoy a major sporting event in a more…woman-y way?' " Nolan said. "Luckily for me, I found this article posted on FoxSports.com entitled 'How to Land a Husband at the Masters.' "

And then Nolan laid it down:

"

Now, a lot of people are criticizing the article, saying it's out of touch, rooted in dated stereotypes, uninteresting, unfunny and generally useless, adds nothing to the site, shouldn't exist and is at best just click-bait. But I spoke with Clay Travis, who runs Outkick The Coverage, the blog that this was posted on, and he says he thought it was lighthearted. Which I think we can all agree that it is, so everyone should just relax. The author, Rebecca Johnson, is just trying to help aimless young females in our all-consuming, never-ending quest to find that husband.

"

Putting members of the media on blast isn't new territory for Nolan. She's an equal-opportunity roaster of all media types.

The piece is still up on the site, if you're looking for tips on finding a spouse from a single person or just enjoy reading a written transcript of someone talking about all of the people that hit on them one day.

We all love when our friends do that, right?

Dan is on Twitter. He had always hoped there was life after 30.
