A Win For Jeff: Happy 36th!
Happy 36th anniversary to my husband , the rabid sports fan who prefers all things sports to romance. Our 35th was at the Phillies game! He is my best friend ..and now that I get to introduce him to professional athletes he appreciates me all the more.
Phillies...we lost to the Pirates:-0 We always manage to play down to the bad teams. This was a game I did not watch because I knew what would happen. I am superstitious and refuse to watch games we are losing. It is to the point where I will leave a game in order for the Phillies to win. It is my gift to them. When I leave a losing game they always come from behind and finish off the other team. (Did that at the 8/26/08 game vs the Mets and they came back as soon as we hit the car...my anniversary gift to the team). Strange stuff for a sports fan and I will check on the team when they are losing from time to time.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Lidge was Lights On again and that is going to be a problem. It took an unassisted triple play by Eric Bruntlett to save his butt on Sunday, Monday he looked fine and last night, he blew it. We should call him "The Clapper" for the commercial, "Lights On (clap clap)Lights Off (clap clap) The Clapper. He is now our Forest Gump's box of chocolates - we never know what we are going to get! How frustrating not only for fans but his team mates.
This leads me to wonder if last year was just one of those years that Lidge (and Hamels) performed beyond their capability at the right time. We are not seeing super starts and super finishes in our past superstars. Lidge has been an inconsistent player throughout his career and Hamels is still a baby (younger than J A Happ). Pedro, you get what you pay for! The starting rotation must begin with Lee, our ace ERA of about zero LOL. Hamels does not even look like a 2. My ideal rotation is Lee, Happ,Blanton,Hamels,Moyer (Hamels and Blanton can be switched). There is enough time to see if Lidge becomes one of several closers. The bull pen is not overworked these days so conceivably you could bring in 3 or 4 pitchers to play the 9th. Like I really know what to do! Just thinking out loud here - that is all blogging really is anyway.
Go Phillies and can I please have a win for my 36th anniversary?
