Anderson Silva Moving Up To Heavyweight????

   Well Sports Fans, another weekend is coming upon us and U.F.C. 102 Saturday Aug. 22  in Portland Oregon...unlike previous cards recently this one just hasn't got the hype and fireworks surrounding it.

   The main event features two hall of famers going toe to toe for 3 rounds with the winner possibly getting a shot at the champion probably in the new year. Maybe there's no excitement about this bout due to in large part that many fans probably fear that the loser will get his walking papers...I'm not so sure the U.F.C. really wants to let either of these guys go especially with the recent signing of Fedor to the Strikefore promotion...they already know the "Natural" is looking to fight Fedor, and a Fedor Nogueria fight would probably be a big seller too...I think it's safe to say that win or lose both fighters will be retained by the U.F.C. until a later date...although stranger things have happened.

   Rumour has it the Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva wants to jump to Heavyweight and take on Frank Mir...this could definitely be an interesting fight if it happens, as Frank isn't the biggest heavyweight weighing in between 235-240 lbs when in perfect fight shape. Anderson Silva walks around at 220 lbs regularly and works pretty diligently to get down to 185. Like I said sports fans...only rumours but you can check in to it on MMA Connected Sportsnet.ca.(Warning Fedor Fans, you may not like what Jason MacDonald has to say about "The Last Emperor" I myself totally agree with him...something like ..."Fedor isn't interested in facing the best in the world.") If it happens Silva vs. Mir, expect Silva to win it in the 2nd round by TKO. I just don't think Frank could keep up with the pace Silva fights at...For the U.F.C. and Dana White they still get to showcase Silva in a different weight class further pushing him up the ladder of the P4P rankings if he's not already sitting at the number one spot.

   Jon Jones recently made the move to Greg Jacksons camp, training with the likes of Rashad Evans and GSP, can you say future champion??? I personally love watching this guy fight, he's exciting and likes to mix things up he's definitely a guy the MMA community should keep their eyes on.

   Just wondering if Strikeforce will come up with another championship weightclass for the women. Cyborg could probably fight in a heavier weight class, and some of the women out there are a little smaller and may never make the 145 lb weight. I don't know about you but Michelle Waterson is definitely a face and a talent but weighs in at 120lbs the last time I checked, and fighting out of the Jackson camp should improve her all around game which looks pretty good already...I think she has the tools to take out Cyborg, but might lack the size...

   Note to all MMA fighters...there are no friends when the bell rings...just opponents until the bell sounds the end of the fight. It's a sport and a competition...sooner or later you're going to have to face someone you like and probably care about...suck it up buttercup you wanted to be a fighter...have any of these guys seen a game called hockey????

  Does Ed Herman just stay in Portland if he loses on Saturday??? Just some thoughts I had on a Wednesday morning while drinking my coffee sports fans.
