Chelsea Transfer News: Rumours on Blockbuster Deals Eyed by Jose Mourinho
Chelsea have South American starlets in view after it emerged that the Blues are ready to sign Argentinian attacker Mauro Icardi, while Brazil prodigy Nathan is also poised to sign on at Stamford Bridge.
According to Hugo Cerezo of Spanish newspaper Marca, Real Madrid have turned down the opportunity to sign Icardi, whose reputation for off-pitch antics looks to have spoiled any hopes of a move:
"A player in Icardi's mould - a prolific starlet with a knack for the spectacular - would normally attract a queue of suitors, and it is possible that he could fetch a fee in the region of €30m. However, the ex-Sampdoria man's reputation as a troublemaker could count against him, with Real Madrid and other clubs believed to be put off by some of the hullabaloo he has been involved in.

As Cerezo reports, Icardi's biggest controversy in Italy relates to his wooing of Wanda Nara, the ex-wife of former team-mate Maxi Lopez.
After wedding Nara in 2014, Icardi incurred further wrath from Lopez by getting tattoos of his children, per the Daily Mail's David Kent, appearing to thrive somewhat on the drama.

As rich as it might be for Real's taste, Chelsea appear willing to accept that side of Icardi's persona if he can bring the same prolific form to the Premier League, having netted 16 Serie A goals this season.
Squawka points out the 22-year-old's form as being good enough to challenge Juventus' Carlos Tevez as top scorer in the Italian first tier:
Jose Mourinho's attacking roster is currently stacked with options, but in the wake of Diego Costa's recent injury troubles, the Blues have struggled to muster their same threat in front of goal.
Didier Drogba and Loic Remy rest as the current backups, but the former could retire when his deal expires this summer. And Goal's Liam Twomey hints the Ivorian is an inferior option as things stand:
Icardi would add an entirely different attacking dimension to the one Costa offers, and his age only helps in making the forward all that more desirable as a long-term investment.
Mourinho will be overjoyed to hear Los Blancos aren't interested in making an offer for the hitman, perhaps feeling he has what it takes to temper Icardi's controversial lapses.
Blues Nearing £5.7 Million Nathan Transfer
There could be double delight for the Blues, too, with the west Londoners reportedly inches away from sealing the signature of Atletico Paranaense playmaker Nathan.
Brazilian newspaper Parana (h/t Daily Star's Colin Harvey) claims a £5.7 million deal has already been agreed upon, with Chelsea paying £2.1 million of that fee now and the remaining £3.6 million based on performance-related bonuses.
According to Transfermarkt, Nathan's deal at Paranaense is posed to expire later this year and could be why his club are willing to cash in rather than see their player depart for free.
Sky Sports' South American correspondent, Paulo Freitas, adds that while Fluminense attacker Kenedy has also been linked with Chelsea, Nathan looks to be the far more likely arrival in west London:
The 19-year-old has made 13 first-team appearances for the Furacao this year, but it's reported that a contract dispute could be behind his rocky development in recent years.
Mourinho's interest in Nathan may also be related to the possible departure of Oscar, who has been linked with a move to Juventus, a transfer that Brazil coach Dunga supports, per Football Italia:
Able to play in the same attacking midfield hub as his compatriot, it's highly unlikely Nathan would fit into Chelsea's first-team plans right away, and it's more probably he'd need time among Chelsea's legions of youth talent first.
However, as a valued prospect in his native Brazil, the teenager may be seen as worthy of the cut-price figure attached to his services, with Chelsea only too willing to invest.
