Ramsey to Start vs. Swansea

Monday, May 11

Arsenal confirmed that Ramsey is fit to start after picking up the knock against Hull.

The Welshman was originally 50/50 to play in the contest, according to the club.

Ramsey has gone through chronic injury troubles in recent years, but he has managed to remain a consistent member of the Arsenal lineup this term, save for the five weeks he missed around Christmas because of a hamstring problem.

Despite his setbacks, the playmaker has managed to revive some of the threat on goal he posed last term, leading former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg to hail his potential as a "top, top, top player," per BBC Sport.

The 2013-14 campaign highlighted just how far Ramsey has come since being plucked from relative obscurity at Cardiff City several years ago.

Commenting on this season's form, Ramsey himself told the official Arsenal website earlier in April just how he intends to reach his best once more:

"

Throughout this season I’ve had injuries and it’s taken me a couple of games to get back into it. With my style of play, I like to get up and down the pitch, that’s why it takes me a couple of games to get back into it, to get my fitness up again.

When I’ve been out for that period of time and getting back into it, it’s quite challenging for me physically and that tires you out in certain things like your decision-making. It’s important for me to get a couple of games in so that I feel I’m ready to go then.

"

Arsene Wenger recently welcomed Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Abou Diaby back to fitness, meaning the north Londoners at least have options in front of them regarding who will fill the void.

That being said, none of those players may bring the same creative presence to the pitch as Ramsey, and Arsenal will be glad to have him on the pitch.
