Verlander Slated to Return to Rotation After Missed Start
Sunday, June 28
Matthew B. Mowery of the Oakland Press talked to Tigers manager Brad Ausmus, who said the team is prepared for Verlander to start Tuesday as the team takes on the Pittsburgh Pirates and that he is just waiting on the star pitcher to confirm his status for the game.
The comments echo what Ausmus told Mowery on June 26, saying to "pencil it in" regarding Verlander's status.
Verlander missed the start of the season due to a triceps injury and didn't return until mid-June. It was the first trip to the disabled list for the longtime Tigers ace, who's been one of the most durable pitchers in baseball for nearly a decade. He made at least 30 starts in each of the past nine seasons.
