Manchester United: The Outlook For The 2009-2010 EPL Season

Bob RandleAug 25, 2009

For Manchester United there has been of talk on how they will replace the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez.

Yes that is a big loss but they filled some of that void with Michael Owen, (who will have to prove himself in order to make the Manchester faithful become a fan of him), Antonio Valencia, (who should be a decent winger on the team) and Gabriel Obertan, (who is a young winger who has time to develop into a powerful winger).

The goal scoring production will be leaned onto Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, and Dimitar Berbatov who will have their hands full keeping up with the 23 goals lost from Ronaldo and Tevez. None the less if they keep it up they will win the Premier League Title again.

Manchester United's defensive line didn't lose a step just a year older for everyone as the line of Gary Neville, Wes Brown, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, and Rio Ferdinand are still around and doing what they do best.

However injuries to Ferdinand, Evra, and Brown have caused problems amongst the defensive line but when they are healthy they play a great defensive game.

Now Manchester United's goalkeeper situation is not too complicated as one would say. Yes Edwin van der Sar doesn't have many years left (this year and maybe next year at most) then he will retire. United have Ben Foster, Tomas Kuszczak plus young goalkeepers Ben Amos, and Ron-Robert Zieler.

After van der Sar retires it looks like Ben Foster will be the no. 1 as he is currently playing while van der Sar is injured. Tomas Kuszczak has expressed discontent about not being the no. 1, putting his future with Manchester United in jeopardy.

Though there will never be another Peter Schmeichel for Manchester United they will have good goalkeepers for the future.

And of course the Manager's position. Sir Alex Ferguson was appointed to become the manager for Manchester United on November 6th 1986 and has been the manager for the past 23 years.

He has won 11 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, 3 League Cups, 2 UEFA Champions League trophies, and 8 community shields. At the moment there have not been any rumours about who will be appointed as the next manager of Manchester United but one day there will be the day that Sir Alex Ferguson leaves Manchester United not because he wants to, but more due to his health and age (he's 67 years old currently).
