Dolph Ziggler's Momentum Will Be Wasted During Road to WWE Extreme Rules 2015

Donald WoodApr 10, 2015

Dolph Ziggler is one of the most talented all-around performers in the wrestling industry today, but a likely match against Sheamus at Extreme Rules 2015 will fail to capitalize on The Showoff’s momentum.

Sheamus returned to the WWE after an extended absence and attacked both Daniel Bryan and Ziggler. While it looked to be setting the stage for a Fatal 4-Way match for the Intercontinental Championship, Sheamus has focused his attention solely on Ziggler.

The likely result will be Ziggler taking the decisive loss at Extreme Rules.

WWE cannot return Sheamus to the main roster and give him a strong heel character only to hand him a loss in his first match back. The bout against Ziggler should be one of the best on the card, but there is little doubt that the Celtic Warrior will pull out the victory.

The probable loss for Ziggler couldn’t come at a worse time, either.

After standing toe-to-toe with Bryan during the build to the IC title ladder match at WrestleMania, most fans thought he would be involved in one of the top storylines around.

Instead, all signs currently point to Ziggler being used as a way to cement Sheamus’ status as a top heel in the company. Just like WWE did after Ziggler’s second world title win or his stunning victory at Survivor Series, the company will not properly book the talented athlete and his momentum will be squandered.

It’s honestly unimaginable that a company that has made some of the genius decisions that WWE has over the years would constantly under-utilize someone as talented as Ziggler.

The WWE Universe loves Ziggler, and he has shown he can go in the ring with almost anyone on the roster and put on a good match. When given the proper storyline and some freedom on the mic, Ziggler can be one of the best in the business.

Instead of booking him in a match where he can steal the show at Extreme Rules, he will be used as a way to cement Sheamus’ heel turn.

Maybe WWE should put over Ziggler as a main event star and really see if he can be a draw at the top of the card.

All Ziggler needs is a proper storyline and a few much-needed wins, and he would be right back on top. Unfortunately, Sheamus will Brogue Kick away any momentum The Showoff has created over the last several months.
