Kurt Warner Named Offensive Coordinator at Arizona High School

Kurt Warner, the former quarterback for the St. Louis Rams offense known as "The Greatest Show on Turf," has reportedly accepted an opportunity to become the offensive coordinator for Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, next season.

Richard Obert of AZCentral Sports reports new head coach Mike Morrissey chose Warner as part of his coaching staff for next season. The Super Bowl champion had already spent time around the program, where his son, Kade, plays wide receiver and linebacker.

The report included comments from Morrissey about the other coaches who will be working with the four-time NFL Pro Bowler.

"Steve Black and Blair Tushaus will also be a big part of our offensive coaching staff," Morrissey said. "Defensively, Coach Tushaus will also be coaching the DL. We finalized our coaching staff last week. A few other coaches are coming from out of state once they finish their current positions like I am."

Warner has worked in broadcasting since his retirement from the NFL. He racked up 32,344 yards passing, 208 touchdowns and a passer rating of 93.7 in 12 seasons with the Rams, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals. Most of his media work has been with the NFL Network.

Judging by his track record, the quarterbacks and receivers at Desert Mountain should be excited about what's to come this fall. The report notes the team will begin spring ball later this month, which is probably when the offensive installation will begin in earnest.

Warner last played in the NFL in 2009. He noted back in January that he would have considered coming out of retirement to help the Cardinals amid their quarterback woes if they would have called.
