King Mo-Mark Kerr to Headline M-1 Global Breakthrough

Friday, August 28 will mark the U.S.ย TV debut of several up-and-coming fighters at M-1 Breakthrough.ย  The event will be headlined by Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal vs. Mark "The Smashing Machine" Kerr.

M-1 Breakthrough, which will air live on HDNet at 9 PM (CT), takes place at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.ย  The preliminary bouts will be streamed live onย Sherdog.com.ย  For ticket info,ย clickย here.

A former standout collegiate wrestler at Oklahoma State and Central Oklahoma (Division II), Lawal is 4-0 in his young career.ย  Fighting all of his fights in the Japanese promotion Sengoku, his last victory came against Pancrase Light Heavyweight Champion Ryo Kawamura (10-4-2) in March.

Lawal will face another former wrestler in Mark Kerr.ย  A UFC and PrideFC veteran, Kerr was the 1992 NCAA Division I wrestling champion at Syracuse defeating Randy Couture of Oklahoma State in the final.

Kerr (15-10) is attempting yet another comeback after not fighting for the past 11 months.ย  Losingย four fights in a row, his last fight was a 1st round submission loss to Jeff Monson on September 28, 2008.

French phenom Karl "Psycho" Amoussou (10-2-1)ย will fight veteran John Doyle (8-8) in a middleweight bout.ย  Amoussou is coming off a spectacular 23-second KO victory by flying knee at M-1 Challenge 14 on April 29.
