King Mo-Mark Kerr to Headline M-1 Global Breakthrough
Friday, August 28 will mark the U.S. TV debut of several up-and-coming fighters at M-1 Breakthrough. The event will be headlined by Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal vs. Mark "The Smashing Machine" Kerr.
M-1 Breakthrough, which will air live on HDNet at 9 PM (CT), takes place at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. The preliminary bouts will be streamed live on Sherdog.com. For ticket info, click here.
A former standout collegiate wrestler at Oklahoma State and Central Oklahoma (Division II), Lawal is 4-0 in his young career. Fighting all of his fights in the Japanese promotion Sengoku, his last victory came against Pancrase Light Heavyweight Champion Ryo Kawamura (10-4-2) in March.
Lawal will face another former wrestler in Mark Kerr. A UFC and PrideFC veteran, Kerr was the 1992 NCAA Division I wrestling champion at Syracuse defeating Randy Couture of Oklahoma State in the final.
Kerr (15-10) is attempting yet another comeback after not fighting for the past 11 months. Losing four fights in a row, his last fight was a 1st round submission loss to Jeff Monson on September 28, 2008.
