Still Noncommittal After Wisconsin Loss
Sunday, April 5
Kyle Tucker of The Courier-Journal (Louisville, Kentucky) noted Towns nodded in the affirmative when asked if he could return to Kentucky next season:
Tucker had previously passed along comments from the post player before the Final Four. His stance was the same:
Although it appears Towns is genuinely undecided about the next step, it would be a surprise if he returned to school. He's in the mix to become the No. 1 overall pick. The only reason to return is if he loves the college experience.
He finished his freshman campaign averaging 10 points, nearly seven rebounds and more than two blocks per contest. He tallied 16 points and nine rebounds in the loss to Wisconsin, the Wildcats' first of the season.
Towns has all the physical tools necessary to succeed at the next level. The main focus should be adding more polish to his post offense, but that should come with time. He really doesn't have anything to prove on an individual level in college.
He'll probably take a step back and talk with his family and coaches before making any final decisions. It's best not to rush to conclusions after a disappointing loss.
