NCAA Tournament 2015: Latest Odds and Predictions for Saturday's Semifinals

R. Cory SmithApr 4, 2015

It's finally here. The two most important words that describe two crucial games: Final Four.

The stage is not only set, but it promises to be one of the most memorable Final Fours in recent memory.

Kentucky is looking to remain undefeated. Wisconsin is hoping for revenge. Duke has aspirations of capturing its third title in the state of Indiana. Michigan State is the only team that enters as a non-No. 1 seed.

Oh, the storylines are juicy. But after Saturday night, only two of those will be worth talking about anymore. Leading up to the massive showdowns, here's a look at the latest odds and predictions for the semifinals.

Final Four (Final) Breakdown

How great have Tom Izzo and Mike Krzyzewski been in the NCAA tournament? The two have a combined 19 Final Four appearances, with Coach K winning four titles and Izzo claiming one. Krzyzewski also holds a 2-1 record against the Spartans coach in the Big Dance.

In fact, Izzo has been so stellar that he has to clarify that he is on the sidelines for other months, via Rachel Nichols of CNN:

Looking to win his second game against Krzyzewski, Izzo is equipped with several great players. Denzel Valentine and Branden Dawson have been great all season, and Travis Trice is finishing his career off with a sensational postseason.

However, the combination of youth and experience for Duke makes it the favorite.

Jahlil Okafor, Justise Winslow and Tyus Jones might get all the attention, but it's senior Quinn Cook who's leading the team. Cook is not only averaging 15.5 points per game, but making a difference on defense and with his teammates. Krzyzewski spoke about Cook's impact on Jones' progression:

On the other side of the bracket, Kentucky and Wisconsin will have a long-awaited rematch in their semifinal. Kentucky won the first meeting last year, but fell short of the national championship.

No one is expecting a similar game. One team is completely different, with Kentucky no longer the underdog in any game it plays.

By this point, every college basketball fan knows about the stars. Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker are shining at the right time of the year. Willie Cauley-Stein, Karl-Anthony Towns and the Harrison twins are just a handful of the stars Kentucky possesses.

What this matchup will come down to is the Badgers' offense against the Wildcats' defense. ESPN Stats & Info points out how both have been the best in the tournament thus far:

Kentucky's defense will simply be too much for Wisconsin in a showdown of powerhouse programs. Dekker and Kaminsky have been great to watch, but the power of Cauley-Stein inside along with the swarming defense will help the Wildcats advance.

That, of course, sets up a matchup between Duke and Kentucky for the national title. Let's just say that's a game that Wildcats fans have been looking forward to for over two decades. Suffice to say, this promises to be an eventful next few days in Indianapolis.
