Romelu Lukaku's Agent Discusses Striker's Skill, Future at Everton
Mino Raiola, the new agent of Everton star Romelu Lukaku, says his client would not have landed with the Toffees if he was working with him last summer. He also stated it's only a matter of time before the striker heads to a bigger club.
Chris Bascombe of the Daily Telegraph passed along comments Raiola made to Belgian outlet Sudpresse about the situation. He took a shot at the Chelsea brass for deciding to bring in Diego Costa rather than give Lukaku a chance:
"If we had met each other earlier, he wouldn't have played for Everton. Maybe somewhere else, maybe he would still be at Chelsea. I want to be clear: Romelu is a better striker than Diego Costa and could have done the same as the Spaniard did this season. But the Chelsea directors had decided to buy another star than giving confidence to one of their young boys.

He also talked about what the future may hold for the 21-year-old Belgium international. The agent's outlook for his new client is extremely bullish, even coming from a representative.
"We will see what happens in the summer, but the Everton directors don't have to think Rom will play there for the rest of his career," Raiola said. "Later on, he'll play for one of world's best teams: PSG, Manchester City, Manchester United or Bayern Munich. Big names, but nothing is impossible as Rom has great potential."

Perhaps he's right. Lukaku certainly has plenty of upside and could develop into a player who deserves a place with one of those top clubs. He's not on that level quite yet, however, which is why going to a side like Everton, where he could play a big role, wasn't a bad choice.
The forward has netted 18 goals for the Toffees in all competitions during the current campaign. That's already an improvement of two over his loan stint with the club last season. So he's trending in the right direction, but there's still some developing to do.
His agent clearly has no interest in keeping expectations within reason, though. Raiola is confident his client is on the path to superstardom.
