Joe Morgan to Saints: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Morgan agreed to terms with the team on Thursday after initially being waived in December.

Morgan posted an image to his Instagram as he signed a new contract with the Saints.

Nick Underhill of The New Orleans Advocate reported that it is a one-year deal. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was quite surprised to learn of the Saints' seemingly minor transaction:

It's been quite an interesting NFL odyssey for the 27-year-old Morgan. An undrafted free agent out of Walsh in 2011, he was acquired by the Saints and didn't play until 2012, when he had 10 receptions for 379 yards and three touchdowns.

But adversity followed thereafter when Morgan tore his ACL and missed all of 2013, and he was then suspended in 2014 and appeared in just five games, making five receptions for 92 yards.

There's no doubting Morgan has produced when his number has been called upon. Now that explosive playmakers like Kenny Stills and Jimmy Graham have gone elsewhere this offseason, perhaps Morgan can carve out a prominent role in New Orleans' Drew Brees-triggered passing attack.
