Aldridge Probable vs. Mavericks

Tuesday, April 14

Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reported that Aldridge is listed as probable for Wednesday's game against Dallas.

After missing the Thunder game, head coach Terry Stotts was "hopeful" that Aldridge can face the Mavericks on Wednesday, per Casey Holdahl of the team's official website.

On April 11, the Blazers' official Twitter feed provided details on Aldridge's status:

Erik Gundersen of The Columbian originally reported that Aldridge needed rest because he had an MRI Saturday and was feeling soreness.

Aldridge has been grinding through pain for months, having opted to avoid surgery on a torn ligament in his left thumb. Somehow, the thumb injury hasn't hindered Aldridge, who has been a double-double machine for one of the Western Conference's top squads.

Blazers fans can only hope that this latest ailment isn't too severe and that the team is just buying him a bit of rest before the playoffs begin. For Portland to have any chance at a deep postseason run, Aldridge must be healthy enough to produce at his usual elite level.

The Trail Blazers have already clinched the Northwest Division and don't need their star forward in the lineup at less than 100 percent. Allowing him to rest so that he is at full strength when the playoffs hit is a precaution that makes sense for Portland.
