Before You Back Tiger Woods at This Year's Barclay's
Top ranked FedEx Points leader Tiger Woods has committed to this yearโs Barclays Golf Tournament in Jersey City, New Jersey. Woods has recorded five PGA victories in 2009 coming into this weekโs Barclays and most bookmakers will make him the obvious choice to win the championship. A couple of things to consider before backing Woods at the Barclays. ย One New Jersey does not like Tiger Woods. Woods best finish on the Garden States soil was tied for fourth in 2005 a year that also saw him win the Masters and British Open.
Two In five Barclay appearances, Tiger Woods best results was a tie for 13th. That was 2003 a year he also won 5 tournaments.

Lastly, Woods will be battling the top 124 out of 125 golfers who lead in the FedExCup standings in 2009. Woods will see serious competition for this event.
ย A few other observations
Tom Watson is the only player out of the top 125 who has not committed to the Barclay's and after a solid British Open its a real shame. Look for Reteif Goosen, Stewert Cink, and Angel Cabrera to have a solid shot at winning this event.

ย Location
This will be the first event for the PGA Tour Playoffs to win the FedExCup. The tournament will be played Aug. 27โ30 at Liberty National in Jersey City, NJ. Last yearโs Barclayโs winner was Vijay Singh at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, NJ.
ย Course Note
A new Scottish style Links course, Liberty National is visually spectacular. Its also amazing that not long ago it was a piece of lost land that was decaying into the harbor due to industrial waist. The course is only 1000 yards from the Statue of Liberty and has dazzling views of the New York City Skyline.
