Harden Becomes 1st Rocket with 2 50-Point Games in 1 Season

Houston Rockets guard James Harden scored a career-high 51 points in Wednesday's 115-111 win over the Sacramento Kings to become the first player in franchise history with multiple 50-point games in the same season, per ESPN Stats & Info.

Harden had an incredible shooting night against one of the league's worst defensive teams, making 16 of his 25 field-goal attempts, eight of his nine three-point attempts and 11 of his 13 free-throw attempts.

He also added eight rebounds, six assists and three steals over 37 minutes and 33 seconds, albeit with a game-high seven turnovers.

Harden is just the fourth player to record multiple 50-point games in a Rockets uniform, joining Hall of Famers Hakeem Olajuwon, Moses Malone and Elvin Hayes, per ESPN Stats & Info.

The 25-year-old guard previously scored 50 points just two weeks ago, leading his team to a 118-108 win over the Denver Nuggets on March 19.

Harden and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving are the only players with multiple 50-point games this season. The two explosive guards have combined for four of the NBA's seven 50-point performances, per ESPN Stats & Info.

There should be some more big games coming over the final few weeks of the season, as the Rockets still have a lot to determine for playoff seeding. Meanwhile, a strong late push could secure MVP honors for Harden.
