Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro Mid 'Hare' Release Date Schedule, Pics and Retail Price

Brian MaziqueApr 2, 2015

Just in time for Easter Sunday, the Jordan Brand is playing to the bunny theme with its newest sneaker release. The Air Jordan 1 Retro Mid "Hare" releases on April 4 with a suggested retail price of $125. This is the latest Looney Tunes-inspired retro Jordan release, which will also be accompanied by the girls' Mid "Lola," per Jordan Brand:

Kicks on Fire gives a quick look at the new sneaker—and a sock-pairing suggestion for those who want to rock the new shoes with shorts:

The inspiration for the shoes comes from the 1990s ads featuring Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny.

With the Hare Jordan 7's coming on May 16, according to Sneaker Bar Detroit's Mario Briguglio, the release of the Air Jordan 1 Retro Mid Hare serves to whet the appetite of Jordan Brand fanatics. The original Air Jordan isn't usually the version of the iconic sneaker that gets the retro treatment, but to help celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the brand, we're seeing some special releases.

It's nice to see a re-release of the style that started the mania.

The official colorways are white/true red/light sail, which makes for a crisp and youthful presentation. As usual, J23 iPhone App delivers with multiple angles:

The best aspect of the sneaker—beyond the historic design—is the striking red bottoms. You get a good appreciation for how that aspect of the shoe sets the whole design off in this image from Sneaker Shouts:

On the back of the shoe, the tie-in to Bugs Bunny is cemented with the word "Hare" in the position where the traditional design would have read "Air." You can get a good look at this part of the shoe, as well as the same view for the "Lolas," in this image from Sole Fly:

Another highlight is the 1990s-themed color pattern on the tongue. For those who like to rock the tongue out—in true Jordan style—this provides a color-matching opportunity for the rest of your gear. As a basketball shoe, I always thought the soles were a little thin in this design. But as a style sneaker, this colorway is slick and almost as versatile as the white-on-heather-gray option.

Something tells me Jordan Brand fans might be conducting hunts for these sneakers rather than Easter eggs on Saturday.
