Texas senior C Chris Hall has been selected to the fall watch list for the 2009 Rimington Trophy, honoring the nation’s top center, the Rimington Trophy Committee has announced.

Hall is a fifth-year lineman who started at least one game at all five positions along the offensive line in 2007 before settling in at center for 2008. He has played in 31 games, starting 23, during his career.

Last season, Hall started 11 games at center, missing the Kansas and Texas A&M games with a knee injury. He was tabbed second-team All-Big 12 and was a three-time Boss Hog Award winner as the team’s most productive lineman.

A first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection, Hall helped Texas average 42.4 points (fifth NCAA), 475.8 total yards (ninth NCAA), 308.3 passing yards (seventh NCAA) and 167.5 rushing yards (41st NCAA) per game in 2008. Texas’ 4,008 passing yards set the school record, while its 551 points and 6,185 total yards rank second on UT’s single-season list.

The winner will be chosen through cumulative votes of four All-America teams, including the American Football Coaches Association, the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the Sporting News and the Football Writers Association of America.

The winner will then be honored at Rimington Trophy Presentation banquet at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Neb., on January 16, 2010.

Presented by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $1.3 million for the award’s benefactor, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Esiason Foundation itself has raised over $73 million for CF Research.

Dave Rimington, the award’s namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy’s only double winner as the nation’s finest college interior lineman.
