Tyson Kidd and Cesaro Retain WWE Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 31

Chris RolingMar 29, 2015

Tyson Kidd and Cesaro seized the spotlight of the WrestleMania 31 pre-show to overcome The Usos, The New Day and Los Matadores to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships.

As expected, the Fatal 4-Way tag team match was a great way to warm up the crowd for the rest of the card. WWE Universe showed the champs on their way to the ring:

Los Matadores served as comic relief, helping Naomi and Natalya to get involved. Natalya even put Torito in a sharpshooter.

The New Day put on a show, with Kofi Kingston's high-flying ways meshing well with Big E's power moves to create some interesting offense.

Jimmy Uso put up a fight but couldn't do it on his own without his brother to help in the chaotic affair.

In the end, it wasn't enough to overcome Tyson Kidd and Cesaro. WWE WrestleMania captured the winners after the bout:

Cesaro targeted the injured shoulder of Jey Uso early in the match, throwing him into the barrier before trainers removed him from ringside.

Even with one contestant out of the running, the referee had no trouble keeping up with who were the legal men in the ring, which caused multiple teams a chance at the title at different points.

Even on his lonesome, Jimmy still put on a show though, paying homage to Rikishi. He used a chaotic ending with most of the contestants out cold to hit a frog splash, only for the opportunistic Cesaro to once again sneak in and steal the pin.

Tyson Kidd and Cesaro ripped the belts from The Usos back at Fastlane and never looked back, even defending the titles the very next night when Naomi and Natalya got involved.

Since then, the three other teams attempted to get underneath the skin of the titleholders, but to little avail.

Even with Tyson Kidd and Cesaro walking out the winners, the Kidd-Cesaro vs. Usos rivalry figures to continue moving forward.

WWE's tag division needs it, even more so with the Rhodes Brothers and the team of Miz and Damien Mizdow breaking up as of late.

The Usos remain the face of the division, while Tyson Kidd and Cesaro should hang around with the straps, barring a surprise singles push for either star.

Regardless, for a pre-show bout, the four teams involved in Sunday's affair made sure to put on a show-stealing effort worthy of the main card.
