Florida Is Last Season's Georgia
Everyone is jumping on the Florida bandwagon this year in much the same manner that they did Georgia last year. Georgia had the misfortune of having all sights set on them last season and in the SEC that added up to a slew of injuries that kept a good team from being great. Week in and week out Florida will play tough physical teams who will extract their pound of flesh from Florida. One particular streach leads me to believe that Florida jus might not make it to the SEC Championship game.
Florida plays LSU on Oct. 10 at LSU. This by any sane persons account is a team that can match Florida in talent and their home stadium is a huge advantage. Win or loose LSU will beat Florida to a pulp in one of the most physical games that will be played this year. In the next two weeks Florida plays Arkansas and Miss State. Thes two teams know their only chance is to beat up that Florida Offense with an over agressive defense. This will wear Florida down and one of these teams could easily be last years Old Miss. The next game is with Georgia who will come into the game having played LSU, Tennessee and Vanderbilt the previous three weeks. These two teams are close talent wise and the winner could well be decided by which team has the fewer injuries in the season up to this point. They then play Vanderbilt that should give them a brief rest and follow with South Carolina comming in seeking revenge with a powerful defense.
Georgia finished with two losses last year and a good season by any standards. They were not in the SEC Championship game that was supposed to be between them and Auburn. I doubt if Florida will make it through the season un blemished and they could miss the championship game entirely and still have a stellar season. It has been years since the majority of predictions about the SEC have been right or even close for that matter. I think a hugely tallented LSU and Georgia squad as well as the favored Alabama and dark horse Auburn will all surprise us in one way or another and I do not believe this will be the Gators year even though they will have a sucessful season in the SEC.
