Fantasy Football Camp...what a Day!

The best advice I will ever give ESPN 950 is "Check when the big Fantasy Convention is going on in AC and do NOT plan yours the same weekend."   The rest I will write is all commentary on the day.  This is a woman's perspective on what went wrong then what was so right about the day. 

Time to change the venue...for 2 years now Dave and Buster's has neglected to have the air conditioning at full blast - not ESPN's fault but time to look elsewhere.  When the camp started 3 years ago it was not crowded...this year was amazing.  Unfortunately for me, "Refrigerator Perry" was seated next to me (to my surprise on return from the ladies room)  and was a rabid VICK fan...what a bad beginning.  The room was crowded so I had a choice to make Jeff move or stand the entire time. Jeff moved!   There was no other place to hang which gets to my first point...everyone was in FREAKIN' ATLANTIC CITY hocking their wares thus missing the opportunity to provide us with multiple mock drafts, free tee shirts and other goodies.  Coffee was running out and the food, this year was rationed...may I please have another chicken finger, sir? No place to go but to sit and listen...maybe that explains what will follow.  We needed the show hosts present as well...guess where they must have been?  They did have very sweet Hooters girls who will try to field a league of their own for Beefcake Fantasy Football..will they know anything or do what the guys do to them...base it on a nice tush (not man-boobs hopefully).

This year either I knew more about sports or they explained the strategy for picks better but either way it worked.  The new formulas - no more RB RB WR QB TE...a formula I never used - are more user friendly because based on prior points and age plus the field of talent there is some leverage in how you draft.  Of course on drafting position as well.  Since there was no place to play with the draft companies as well as order kits (as well as cool down) I just took notes and learn I did.  Mikey Miss and Dan Schwartzman were not hosting and they made the event more fun last year.

Two hours of straight stats killed me, but again I feel somewhat armed and dangerous.  I never sat so close to strangers in my life and I think Jeff and Refrigerator Perry are now seeing each other on the side.  So much was right and yet so much was wrong.  I love ESPN 950 and expect they will grow into a force...provided they get all the parts working.  It is difficult to fight the 800 lb gorilla and takes practice.  All in all...950, will you do it again for Baseball?
