
Kentucky vs. West Virginia: Twitter Reacts to Wildcats' 39-Point Sweet 16 Win
In the pantheon of most one-sided beatdowns in sports history, a special place will be reserved for the Sweet 16 matchup between the Kentucky Wildcats and West Virginia Mountaineers. The top-seeded Wildcats doubled up the Mountaineers in a 78-39 victory Thursday night.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, it's the first time in tournament history a team scored twice as much as its opponent in the Sweet 16:

Kentucky players Andrew Harrison and Devin Booker had their own thoughts on the win after the game:
Both were seemingly responding to comments from West Virginia guard Daxter Miles Jr., who gave the Wildcats some serious locker room material Wednesday.
To put the dominance in perspective, Kentucky had more rebounds (44) than West Virginia had points. The Wildcats also had more combined steals and blocks (14) than the Mountaineers had made field goals (13). CBS Sports' Will Brinson found another absurd stat to illustrate the craziness of the result:
Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman made note of a 10-minute stretch in which West Virginia didn't hit a single shot:
Boston Celtics play-by-play announcer Sean Grande argued that the Mountaineers should've used the Jurassic Park strategy to see if Kentucky would refrain from attacking:

One of the more ridiculous questions asked of this Kentucky team is whether it could compete with the worst team in the NBA. ESPN's SportsNation had some fun and took the question to its most absurd extreme:
Kentucky will play Notre Dame in the Elite Eight at 8:49 p.m. ET Saturday on TBS, per Turner Sports.
The Wildcats almost certainly won't re-create this performance again, but they'll obviously be heavy favorites when they meet the Fighting Irish.
