Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns: Deciphering Possible Swerves at WWE WrestleMania
When Brock Lesnar defends the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 31, the wrestling world will be watching to see how the next chapter in the company’s history unfolds.
With Lesnar re-signing with WWE and the champion’s advocate, Paul Heyman, teasing a possible relationship with Reigns, there are several swerves that could take place on Sunday.
Reigns is the favorite after winning the 2015 Royal Rumble and beating Daniel Bryan at WWE Fastlane, and here is how the main event could shake out after potentially blockbuster swerves.

Paul Heyman Turns on Brock Lesnar
The best part of the build for the main event has been the promos from Heyman, and there have been subtle teases for weeks of something brewing below the surface. With a wink on Monday’s episode of Raw, Heyman may have let the WWE Universe in on the secret.
Heyman could turn on Lesnar and help Reigns win the WWE Championship.
Lesnar is already getting a face reaction for the crowd, and after re-signing with the company, there is a rising sentiment that he could walk out of the PPV with the world title.
During the main event on Sunday, Heyman must do what he has done many times in the past: turn his back on his client for someone he perceives as the future of the business.
There is no doubt that Lesnar is one of the greatest WWE Superstars in recent history, but with the company pushing Reigns with everything it has, reacting to the backlash against him by turning him heel and aligning him with Heyman could be a genius move.
For all the fans who hate Reigns, joining forces with Heyman against Lesnar would be a major coup.
The Beast Successfully Retains Title
Since Reigns won the Royal Rumble, the perception has been that he would eventually go on to defeat Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. With Lesnar re-signing, though, a victory for the challenger is not a lock like it once was.
With Lesnar’s decision to stay with WWE creating a major buzz in the mainstream media and Reigns not getting the reaction from the fans that management had anticipated, there is a possibility that the company continues riding with Lesnar as the top dog.
A loss for Reigns would be a major setback, but with another year to develop his talent on the mic and in the ring, he could once again return to the main event scene.
As for Lesnar, he could begin new and interesting feuds with top faces like Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose or even Dolph Ziggler.
While not having the champion on television every week has been a major complaint, Lesnar still feels special because of his schedule. After signing a long-term deal, maybe the reign of Lesnar is really just getting started.
Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns Steal the Show
If Reigns is going to be victorious in the main event, one post-match possibility would be Seth Rolling hitting the ring and cashing in his Money in the Bank contract to the steal the moment.
Rollins has held on to the briefcase for almost a year and it’s almost time for a legitimate cash-in attempt. If there is any feeling that Reigns isn’t going to work right now as a top face, building sympathy for him by winning the title and having it taken from him by Rollins would be ideal.
Taking the title off Lesnar may be tough to sell to the casual wrestling fans, but letting Reigns beat him cleanly and then immediately lose the title to Rollins would cement the status of two young Superstars moving into the future.
