NFL Mock Draft 2015: Projections for Most Enigmatic 1st-Round Prospects
Character concerns, inconsistent production, injury history, disappointing workouts and poor interviews are some good examples of what may make us consider certain draft prospects to be enigmatic. It can be extremely difficult to determine where these players will be drafted due to varying opinions of how they are perceived.
The most recent example of a prospect to garner this label is former Nebraska defensive end Randy Gregory. According to Kimberly Jones of NFL.com, the 6'5", 235-pound pass-rusher tested positive for marijuana at the scouting combine.
Before this news broke, Gregory was widely considered a top-10 selection; however, he should be expected to slide in this year's draft as a result. Bleacher Report's Matt Miller tweeted a worst-case-scenario comparison:
So, where does that leave Gregory at this point in the offseason? Here's a look at how the entire first round is likely to shake out.

Analyzing Enigmatic First-Round Prospects
We already discussed Gregory's situation, so let's take a look at some other prospects who could potentially be drafted at any point in the first round—or possibly even fall into the second round in some instances—due to varying uncertainties about character or anticipated production.
6. New York Jets: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
Marcus Mariota is an incredible athlete, we're certain of that. However, he ran an unorthodox Oregon offense, and there are concerns regarding how well his skill set will translate to an NFL offense. There's no doubt he'll be selected in the first round, but it's still a mystery if a team like the Jets will grab him at No. 6 overall or if another franchise will make a gutsy move and trade up for him.
11. Minnesota Vikings: Bud Dupree, OLB, Kentucky

The 6'4", 269-pound Bud Dupree is an athletic freak and workout warrior. He was productive while at Kentucky but really began to wow scouts and league personnel during drills at the scouting combine. Dupree will need some development, but he's a perfect candidate for a head coach like Mike Zimmer, who already made a name for himself molding great NFL pass-rushers.
15. San Francisco 49ers: Jalen Collins, CB, LSU

At 6'1" and 203 pounds with a great deal of athleticism and plenty of natural talent, cornerback Jalen Collins should be a lock for a high first-round pick. There's just one problem: He made just 10 career starts while in college. Collins has great upside, but it's uncertain how high he'll go, as teams may be hesitant to gamble such a high pick on an inexperienced player.
29. Indianapolis Colts: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
Todd Gurley was one of the nation's most exciting running backs during his tenure at Georgia. At 6'1" and 222 pounds with good vision, acceleration and open-field speed, he looks the part of a solid NFL ball-carrier. Unfortunately, a torn ACL in 2014 clouds his draft stock. Running backs have come back to play extremely well from the injury, but that doesn't make it any less of a risk.
31. New Orleans Saints (via Seattle Seahawks): Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Oklahoma
Any team in need of a wide receiver would love to have the athletic 6'5", 237-pound frame of Dorial Green-Beckham in the fold; however, this pass-catcher comes with a bevy of red flags. While he's a fantastic talent with huge upside, his dismissal from Missouri's football team following an altercation along with an extended absence of in-game production make him one of the draft's biggest boom-or-bust prospects.
