Anderson Silva VS. Lyoto Machida!!! Hey....I Can Dream Cant I???

matthew buenoAug 22, 2009

Everyone is talking about Anderson Silva vs. Georges St. Pierre as a "Super Fight."ย That would be an amazing match up, but what about Silva moving back up to Light Heavyweight to challange Machida for the title?? With only three fights left until retirement, I would think that he would love to be the first fighter in UFCย historyย to hold two titles in two different weight classes simultaneously, and then go out on top.

Anderson Silva vs. Lyoto Machida would be an epic battle, pitting two world class fighters with, in my opinion, very similar styles against each other. Silva boasts a veritable whose who list of wins over such fighters as Thales Leites by unanimous decision, a very impressive submission win over Dan Henderson, Two wins over Rich Franklin (2006 & 2007), The King of Pancrase Nate Marquardt by TKO, The dismantling of Chris Leben (Silva's UFC debut), Tony Fryklund by KO, Jorge Rivera by TKO, Jeremy Horn by Unanimous decision, and Carlos Newton at Pride 25 by KO.

Lyoto Machida is no slouch. he has his own impressive record with wins over Rashad Evans by KO (to win the UFC Light Heavyweight Title), Thiago Silva by KO, Tito Ortiz by unanimous decision, Sodoudjou, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Sam Hoger, Vernon White, B J Penn, Rich Franklin by TKO (2003), and Stephen Bonnar by TKO.

I believe both Silva and Machida are very evenly matched. Silva is a BJJ Blackbelt and a Muy Thai expert. Machida is a BJJ Blackbelt and a Karate ace. Both of these fighters are very allusive and very good at avoiding damage. In my opinion, Anderson Silva vs. Lyoto Machida would be the fight on the year if not the century.

Lyoto Machida has a record of 15-0-0 (7-0-0 UFC). Anderson Silva Has a record of 25-4-0 (10-0-0 UFC).
