10 Scorching MLB Takes 🌶️

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Analysis: Burnett should dominate Tazawa as the young Japanese pitcher’s ERA is an awful 5.40. His WHIP of 1.97 means that fans should expect to see a lot of Yankee base runners in this game. Burnett hasn’t been dominating but he has been solid with a 3.69 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. His ability to keep this game under control will pay dividends to gamblers. This is a definite run line play even though Burnett might have to give up 1 ½ runs and odds. Pick: A.J. Burnett and the New York Yankees on the run line
Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
First-pitch: 4:10 pm EST
Cubs – Ted Lilly vs. Dodgers – Charlie Haeger
Analysis: Haeger was actually pretty good in his first start in MLB. In 7 innings, Haeger struck out 2 batters, gave up 5 hits and 3 runs, and garnered a .71 WHIP. That’s not terrible, but it wasn’t enough as Haeger suffered a loss. Lilly has been a solid guy for the Cubs in 2009 even though Chicago has had a somewhat difficult season. Lilly has a 9 and 7 record, a 3.42 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. The key in betting this game is deciding whether or not Haeger’s terrific pitching was an aberration. I believe it was. He was born in 1983 which makes him 26 years old. Lilly is much older than that and the wily veteran gets the nod in this game. I don’t want to give up either odds or runs. So, I’m going to just say that a bet on the Cubs to win straight-up is the way to go. Pick: Chicago Cubs

San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies
First-pitch: 3:10 pm EST
San Francisco – Tim Lincecum vs. Colorado – Ubaldo Jimenez
Analysis: Lincecum is dominating again in 2009 with a 12 and 3 record, a 2.37 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. Jimenez hasn’t been that bad with an 11 and 9 record, 3.41 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. The key in this game is for gamblers to decide if it makes sense to go after Lincecum. Lincecum is going to be a big favorite. Big enough, I believe, to make the Giants a favorite to win this game outright. I’m in favor of taking Colorado in this game. Even though Lincecum will do his thing, he will need his teammates to produce runs and I don’t see that happening. The Rockies garnering a run or two against Lincecum, and Jimenez blanking them for 7 innings, looks likely to me. I see two possible wagers. I might bet both. Colorado to win straight-up and the under. Pick: Colorado Rockies to win and the under
New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox
First-pitch: 8:05 pm EST
Yankees – C.C. Sabathia vs. Boston – Josh Beckett
Analysis: What a game this figures to be as two of the top pitchers in baseball go head to head for A.L. East supremacy! C.C. has turned things around some since his terrible start to 2009 and now has an 11 and 7 record, a 3.58 ERA and a super 1.13 WHIP. Beckett has been Beckett in 2009 with a 14 and 4 record, a 3.38 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. Bettors should notice that both guys have the same WHIP. What does that mean? It means that the team with the better offense probably ends up winning this game. There is no doubt that the Yankees have the better offense. I just don’t see Boston being able to get to C.C. early while the Yankees have enough firepower to get to Beckett. I’m going Yankees again in this game. Pick: New York Yankees
